Below are some recent oil and gas projects by Merkland Tank.
HFO TANK & PIPEWORK CLEAN
- 9-month project cleaning of 3 no. HFO tanks at 60m diameter.
- Disposal of all HFO and residual waste estimated at 1,900 tonnes.
- Cleaning of 2,000m, 24" pipework and 18" pipework charged with HFO.
CRUDE OIL TANK & PIPEWORK CLEAN
- 6-month project to empty, remove and clean 3 no. 30m diameter, 7m high crude oil tanks.
- Cleaning of all associated pipework, including charged lines.
- Disposal of 600 tonnes crude oil waste.
- Structural engineers required for plant access to tanks.
- Merkland Tank removed 110 tonnes of cooled bitumen from our client's tank using powerful air breakers, before safe onward disposal.
- The tank was then thoroughly cleaned using ultra-high jetting equipment to allow for inspection, during which we provided confined space emergency rescue standby support.
- We later provided further on-site support to clean around the tank and remove redundant pipework.
BITUMEN TANK CLEAN
- 9-week project to empty, remove and clean a 27m diameter, 15m high bitumen tank.
- Tank cleaning to encapsulate all floors and walls to the top of the tank.
- Emergency rescue procedures for limited access to high risk confined space.
- Cutting and removal of heating coils.
- Disposal of over 200 tonnes bitumen waste.
- Scaffolding required for access to higher sections of wall contamination.
- Merkland's specialist confined space rescue team were on site carrying out a programme of fuel tank cleaning works for our client.
- With safety and compliance top of the agenda, we were able to complete the work on time and adhere to the strict safety protocols required within this complex, high-risk sector.
- Utilising our high-performance tanker fleet and advanced industrial cleaning equipment, we helped our client maintain operational reliability by supporting their business-critical, tank and pipeline inspection and maintenance programme.
