Spotlight on: Safe Working at Height
For the second year running, Merkland Tank were proud to support ‘No Falls Week’, a safe working at height campaign organised by the No Falls Foundation charity to help ensure that all those who work at height, in all sectors, do so safely at all times.

Co-ordinated by our HSE & Compliance Manager, Thomas Hopkins (far right), we got our operatives together throughout the week of 12th-16th May to reinforce the safe work at height message.
Thomas kicked off with a Toolbox Talk on ‘Working at Height Around Manways’ followed by another on ‘Pre-Use Inspection of Harnesses, Restraint Lanyards & Fall Arrest Lanyards’, delivered by our Storeman, Stef Wild (below left).
Our site teams put their PASMA cards to good use too as they required a mobile tower to gain top access to clean a chemical tank for our waste management client (below right).

Thomas rounded off the week by attending the No Falls Conference & Charity Ball in Derby, a day of learning and knowledge sharing – in fact, he even wrote a blog about it!
Pictured at the No Falls Charity Ball: Thomas (far right) with Peter Bennett OBE and Chris Smith (both from PASMA) and Conference guest speaker Prof Billy Hare (Glasgow Caledonian University) – all looking very dapper in their kilts!
