Merkland Tank: Committed to Developing Future Talent

Investing in Employee Development

Investing in our employees’ development is an important part of our success at Merkland Tank. It allows our business to stay ahead of the curve in terms of team skills and expert knowledge.

As well as developing our current team, we want to attract future talent to Merkland Tank in a variety of industrial services operative and driver roles.

Shining a Spotlight on Trainees at Merkland Tank

It’s a busy month for shining the spotlight on apprenticeships and traineeships and specifically on careers in our sector, with National Apprenticeship Week running 10-16 February, immediately followed by the Tank Storage Association (TSA) Careers Week during 17-21 February!

As proud members of the TSA, we’re fully on-board with promoting the important role our sector plays in supporting terminals, which in turn, are vital in keeping businesses across a whole host of other sectors running smoothly.

Tanks are more important than you might think!

‘Apprenticeship’ Opportunities at Merkland Tank

Unlike traditional Apprenticeship Schemes, where the employee splits their time between work and study to gain a formal qualification, Merkland Tank has our own ‘Apprenticeship’ Scheme (or we sometimes call it ‘Training & Development’ Scheme) where we define an ‘apprentice’ as someone requiring instruction under a more experienced colleague or leader to gain the appropriate skills in the role they are aiming for.

Developed internally to suit our specific business and sector needs, and with a focus on setting out our own training and development plan, our bespoke Scheme offers a fantastic opportunity for aspiring industrial services technicians to gain new skills and experience – and work towards industry-recognised qualifications that can help them map out their own exciting career path. These qualifications can include courses like Confined Space Rescue, Work at Height and First Aid, achieved through attendance at external or internal training courses.
