Tank Inspection

Are your fuel tanks compliant?
Do you need to get your tank and pipework inspected?

Did you know, if you operate a fuel oil tank you are responsible for minimising the risk of leaks and environmental damage. You will reduce this risk by correctly maintaining the tank, secondary containment, pipework, and ancillary equipment.

Your local environment agency recommends a regular tank inspection carried out by a competent OFTEC engineer.

While the frequency varies depending on the tank, your insurer may require a regular inspection and, in some cases, it’s a legal requirement to test as often as every 2½ years. Your underground pipework also requires continuous leak detection or a regular pressure test.

Our experienced OFTEC-registered engineers provide free consultations on your tank and pipework, and can advise whether an inspection is needed.

We offer a range of inspection services, vacuum and pressure testing, equipment calibration, and leak detection solutions – all carried out to GPP2 standards.

Pipeline Pigging Image

Pipeline Pigging

Merkland Tank provides pipeline pigging services for a variety of cleaning and inspection applications in the Oil & Gas, Petrochemical and Water sectors.

Our Pipeline Pigging solutions are used on projects of all sizes to remove build-up of contaminants such as water, water scale, crude, sludge, sediment and minerals which, if left untreated, will reduce the flow and efficiency of the pipeline.

Our pigging services are proven to be the safest and fastest solution to support on-going planned maintenance, inspections and the de-commissioning of pipelines to ensure that no product or debris remains in situ.

We have the in-house expertise to manage the pigging process for pipeline diameters from 6”to 30” using a wide variety of pipeline pigs designed to assist with the specific cleaning process and product demands.

Alongside our Pipeline Pigging Solutions, we offer an Ultra-High Pressure (UHP) Water Jetting service – with pressure up to 40,000 psi – to flush out all residue and remove any remaining washings using a powerful 1800 CFM Liquid Ring Vacuum Pump.
